Jesus Teaching On Worrying

This discussion is one of Jesus sermons and it is from the Bible. We are learning from the Bible today.

Matthew 6:24-34 KJV

[24]No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

[25] Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

[26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

[27] Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

[28] And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

[29] And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

[30] Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

[31] Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

[32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

[33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

[34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

The people of the world teach themselves how to make money at all cost, they tell you it is a taboo to be poor and so you should make money no matter how. It's sad this worldly teaching is being preached in the church today, some pastors even tell you that God is angry with you if you are poor. But here today we see it in Jesus teaching that God doesn't want us to be desperate for our needs to be met. God wants us to depend on Him alone to take care of our needs. Verse 24 says our lives is far more precious than all the food, money or clothes we are looking for. It tells us we can't serve God and mammon together, meaning the god of money, the god of money makes people sin against God in exchange for money he gives to them. God says we should not do this, we should depend on God. We should not exchange our lives for money.

Subsequent verses after started telling us about how things that are not of value as we human beings are being taken care of by God, like birds and lilies, God says we are of much value than them therefore God will feed us, God will clothe us. God will even give us abundant of wealth at His perfect time, it may not be how the world does it because God is a perfect planner, He always wants to put things in place before giving wealth to His people.

The latter verses then conclude that we should seek the kingdom of God first instead of running after the wealth and riches like those who don't have the fear of God in their hearts, Jesus says that is their way, we should not be like them. Then Jesus adds that all other things shall be given to us in God. Not outside God or outside God's salvation. Blessings are portion of God's children, so whenever we come to church or we seek God, let it be to know God more first and have a cordial relationship with God then we can expect the real blessings that doesn't add sorrow to it that God gives those who fear Him and seek Him first.
